TheWechslerPreschoolandPrimaryScaleofIntelligence(WPPSI-III)(TheWechslerPreschoolandPrimaryScaleofIntelligence(WPPSI-III)),byAmericanPsychologyTheintelligencemeasurementtooldevelopedbyD.Wexlerissuitableforchildrenfrom2yearsand6monthsto7yearsand3months.ThescaleisanextensionoftheWexlerIntelligenceScaleforSchool-ageChildren(WISC),becauseithas8itemsinits11testitems(commonsense,vocabulary,arithmetic,similarity,comprehension,picturefilling,mazeandbuildingblockpatterns)Ithasthesamenatureastheintelligencescaleforschool-agechildren.Onlythethreeitemsofrecitationsentences,animalroomandgeometricfiguresarenewlyestablished.ChinahasarevisedversionoftheWebster'sIntelligenceScaleforPreschoolChildren.

Thescaleisdividedintotwotypes:speechtestandoperationtest.Inthespeechpart,thereare5sub-testsofcommonsense,vocabulary,arithmetic,similarity,andcomprehension,andasupplementaryquestionofrecitationsentences.Inthe6sub-tests,therearesub-questionsforeachofthem.Atotalof119itemsformaspeechscale.Theoperationparthas5subtests:animalroom,picturefilling,maze,geometricfigure,andbuildingblockpattern.Therearealsosub-testsunderit,andatotalof54itemsmakeuptheoperationscale.

Use

Inthetest,thevariousitemsofthespeechtestandtheoperationtestareperformedalternately,andthetestitemsarearrangedfromeasytodifficult,soastobettermaintainchildren'sinterestandcooperation.Accordingtothetestresults,theoriginalscoresofeachsubtestarerecordedfirst,andthentheoriginalscoresareconvertedintoscalepoints.

TheWexlerPreschoolChildren’sIntelligenceScalewasrevisedbyProfessorLinChuandingandZhangHoucanofBeijingNormalUniversitytomakeitmoresuitableforChinesechildren.Thetablemethodmeasurestheintelligenceofalargenumberofnormalpreschoolchildrenandaccumulatesdatainordertoformulateanormfortheintellectualdevelopmentofchildrenaged4to6.5inChina.
