Introduction

On-linemeansthatnomatterwhetherthegridvoltageisnormalornot,theACvoltageusedbytheloadmustpassthroughtheinvertercircuit,thatis,theinvertercircuitisalwaysinworkingcondition.On-lineUPSisgenerallyDoubleconversionstructure.Theso-calleddoubleconversionmeansthatwhentheUPSisworkingnormally,theelectricenergyissuppliedtotheloadafterbeingconvertedbyAC/DCandDC/ACtwice.

ThisUPSuninterruptiblepowersupplykeepsitsinverterinworkingcondition.ItfirstconvertsexternalACpowerintoDCpowerthroughacircuit,andthenconvertsDCpowerintohigh-qualitysinusoidalpowerthroughahigh-qualityinverter.WaveACoutputtothecomputer.ThemainfunctionofonlineUPSunderpowersupplyconditionsistostabilizevoltageandpreventelectricwaveinterference,andatthesametimechargeandmanagethebattery;intheeventofapowerfailure,itusesabackupDCpowersupply(batterypack)tosupplypowertotheinverter.Sincetheinverterisalwaysworking,thereisnoswitchingtimeproblem,anditissuitableforoccasionswithstrictrequirementsonthepowersupply.

Workingprinciple

WhentheonlineUPSisnormallypoweredbythepowergrid,theinputvoltageofthepowergridpassesthroughthenoisefiltertoremovehigh-frequencyinterferencefromthepowergrid,soastoobtainpureACpower.Therectifierperformsrectificationandfiltering,andconvertsthealternatingcurrentintoasmoothdirectcurrent,andthendividesitintotwoways.Onewayentersthechargertochargethebattery,theotherwayissuppliedtotheinverter,andtheinverterconvertsthedirectcurrentinto220V,50HzACpowersupplyLoadusage.

Whentheutilitypowerisinterrupted,theACinputhasbeencutoffandtherectifiernolongerworks.Atthistime,thebatterydischargestodeliverenergytotheinverter,andtheinverterconvertstheDCpowerintoACpower.Loadusage.Therefore,fortheload,althoughthemainspowernolongerexists,theloadisnotoutofserviceduetothemainsinterruptionandcanstilloperatenormally.

FeaturesofonlineUPS

ThemainfeaturesoftheonlinesinewaveoutputUPSareasfollows:

(1)SincetheonlineUPSisnormallyWhentheutilitypowerisinterruptedandtheinternalbatterysuppliespowertotheinverter,thepowersupplytotheloadisprovidedbytheUPSinverter.Becauseofthis,theinfluenceofanyvoltagefluctuationandinterferencefromthemainspowergridontheloadworkisfundamentallyeliminated,andtheinterference-freeregulatedpowersupplytotheloadistrulyrealized.Thisobviouslycannotbesolvedbyanykindofanti-interferenceACstabilizedpowersupply.Whenthemainsvoltagechangerangeis180~250V,itsoutputvoltagestabilityrangecanreach220V±3%,andthesinewaveoperatingfrequencystabilityrangeis50Hz±1%.

(3)On-lineUPScantrulyrealizeuninterruptedpowersupplytotheloadwhenthemainspowerisinterrupted.AslongasthebatteryinthemachinecanprovideenergytotheUPSinverter,regardlessofwhetherthemainspowerisinterrupted,theonlineUPSispoweredbytheinvertertotheload.Therefore,intheprocessfromthemainssupplytothemainsinterruption,thereisnoconversionactioninsidetheonlineUPS,andtheconversiontimefortheloadpowersupplyiszero.

(4)ComparedwithbackupUPS,onlineUPShasexcellentoutputvoltagetransientcharacteristics.Generally,when100%loadisloadedor100%loadisreduced,itsoutputvoltagechangerangeisabout1%,andthedurationofthischangeisgenerally1to3cycles.

Workingmode

Whenthemainspowerisnormal,themainspassesthroughthesurgeabsorptionfiltercircuit→ACconversionDCcircuit→DCconversionACcircuit→andconvertstheACoutputtosupplytheload,andatthesametimeChargethebattery;oncethemicroprocessorcontrolcircuitdetectsthatthemainspowerisinterrupted,itwillimmediatelydischargethebattery→DCpowerconversionACcircuit→andconverttheACpoweroutputtosupplytheload.IfthemicroprocessorcontrolcircuitdetectsaUPSfailure,theUPSwilljumptothebypass(BYPASS)throughtherelay(RELAY),theloadpowerwillbesuppliedbythemains,andasoundwillbeissuedtowarntheuser.

——Iftheinverterdrivecircuitisnotworkingproperly,checkwhetherthewaveformgeneratingcircuithasPWMcontrolsignaloutput.Ifthereisacontrolsignaloutput,itmeansthatthefaultliesintheinverterdrivecircuit.

——IfthewaveformgeneratingcircuithasnoPWMcontrolsignaloutput,checkwhetheritsoutputisblockedduetotheworkoftheprotectioncircuit,andifso,findoutthereasonfortheprotection;

Faultanalysis:Judgingfromthephenomenonthatthebatteryorchargingcircuitisfaulty,youcancheckaccordingtothefollowingsteps:

——Checkwhethertheinputandoutputvoltageofthechargingcircuitisnormal;

——Iftheinputofthechargingcircuitisnormalandtheoutputisabnormal,disconnectthebattery

andtestagain,ifitisstillabnormal,thechargingcircuitisfaulty;

——IfthebatteryisdisconnectedIftheinputandoutputofthechargingcircuitarenormal,itmeansthatthebatteryhasbeendamagedduetolong-termuncharged,over-discharged,orendoflife.

3.Apairofpoweramplifiertransistorsoftheinverterpowerstagearedamaged.Afterreplacingthetransistorsofthesamemodel,thereasonisthatthecurrentistoolarge,andthereasonsfortheexcessivecurrentare:

——Theovercurrentprotectionfails.Whentheinverteroutputovercurrent,theovercurrentprotectioncircuitdoesnotwork;

——Checkwhetherthemainsinputfuseisburnedout;

——Ifthemainsinputfuseisintact,checkwhetherthebatteryfuseisburnedout,becausesomeUPSwillturnoffalltheoutputanddisplayoftheUPSwhenthebatteryvoltageisnotdetectedbyitself;

——Ifthebatteryinsuranceisintact,checkwhetherthemainsdetectioncircuitisworkingproperly.IfthemainsdetectioncircuitisnotworkingproperlyandtheUPSdoesnothavethefunctionofstartingwithoutmains,theUPSwillalsoturnoffalloutputsanddisplays.

——Ifthecitydetectioncircuitworksnormally,checkwhetherthebatteryvoltagedetectioncircuitisnormal.

5.WhentheUPSisconnectedtothemains,everytimetheUPSisturnedon,therelaywillbeheardrepeatedly,andthelowbatteryindicatorontheUPSpanelwillbeonandthebuzzerwillbeepforalongtime.

Accordingtotheabovefailurephenomenon,itcanbejudgedthatthefailureiscausedbythebatteryvoltagebeingtoolow,whichcausestheUPStostartunsuccessfully.Removethebatteryandperformequalizingchargefirst(allbatteriesarechargedinparallel),ifitisstillunsuccessful,onlyreplacethebattery.

6.TurnontheUPSwhenthemainspowersupplyisnormal,theinverterworkingindicatorflashes,thebuzzeremitsintermittentbeeps,theUPScanonlyworkintheinverterstate,andcannotbeconvertedtothemainsworkingstate.

Faultanalysis:theconversionofinverterpowersupplytomainspowersupplycannotbecarriedout,indicatingthatthereisafailureintheconversionpartoftheinverterpowersupplytomainspowersupply,anditisnecessarytofocusonthedetection:

——mainspowersupplyWhethertheinputfuseisdamaged;

——Ifthemainsinputfuseisintact,checkwhethertheoutputofthemainsrectifierfiltercircuitisnormal;

——Iftheoutputofthemainsrectifierfiltercircuitisnormal,checkWhetherthemainsdetectioncircuitisnormal;

——Ifthemainsdetectioncircuitisnormal,checkwhetherthecontroloutputfromtheinverterpowersupplytothemainspowersupplyisnormal.

7.UPScanonlybepoweredbycitypowerandcannotbeconvertedtoinverterpowersupply.

Faultanalysis:theconversionfrommainspowertoinverterpowersupplycannotbecarriedout,indicatingthatthereisafailureintheconversionpartofmainspowertoinverterpowersupply,anditisimportanttocheck:

——whetherthebatteryvoltageistoolow,Thebatteryfuseisintact;

——Ifthebatterypartisnormal,checkwhetherthebatteryvoltagedetectioncircuitisnormal;

Ifthebatteryvoltagedetectioncircuitisnormal,thencheckthemainssupplytotheinverterWhethertheconversioncontroloutputisnormal.
