In1925,inahotelinBrussels,UruguayandiplomatBuero,onbehalfofthetwo-timeOlympicfootballchampionUruguayteam,formallyexpressedsupportforRemit,whichplayedabigroleatthetime..
OnDecember10,1926,FIFAheldaworkingconferenceinParis.Switzerland,Hungary,France,Austria,Germanyandmanyothercountriessentrepresentativestoparticipateinthisconference.Fourmonthslater,thedraftofthemeetingwassubmittedtothenationalfootballassociations.OnJune5,1927,attheHelsinkimeetingheldbyFIFA,theParisWorkingConferenceresolutionwaspassedwith23votesinfavor,5votesagainst(theNordiccountriesexpressedopposition),and1abstention(Germany).
In1926,attheFIFALuxembourgConference,thenameofthetournamentwaschangedto"RemitCup"tocommendtheformerFIFApresident,theFrenchmanRemitforhisgreatachievementsinfootball.contribute.
Later,someonesuggestedtolinkthetwonamestogether,calledthe"WorldFootballChampionship-RemitCup,andfinallyattheHelsinkiRepresentativeConference,thenamewasfinallychangedto"WorldFootballChampionsCup-"RemitCup",referredtoas"WorldCup".Itisheldeveryfouryears.
TheWorldCupisaspecialprizemadebyFIFAforthewinnersin1928.ItwascastbythefamousParisianjewellerytechnicianFreier.ItsThemodelisNikai,thegoddessofvictoryintheGreeklegend.SheiswearinganancientRomantunicrobe,herarmsstretchedout,andabigcupinherhand.

FIFAstipulatesthatthenewcupisamobileprize,nomatterhowmanychampionshipsateamwins,itcannotbepermanentlyoccupied.UnderthebaseoftheHerculesCupthereisanameplatethatcanholdthenamesof17championteams-itcanbeusedcontinuouslyBy2038.
Competitionsystem
TheWorldCupscheduleisdividedintotwostages:thequalifierstageandthefinalstage.TheWorldCupqualifierstageisdividedintosixmajorcompetitionregions,namelyEurope,SouthAmerica,IntheAsia,Africa,NorthAmericaandOceaniaregions,eachregionneedstoformulatequalifierrulesaccordingtotheactualsituationoftheregion,andeachFIFAmembercountry(region)thathassignedupfortheWorldCupneedstobeintheThecompetitionareawillconductqualifierstocompetefortheplacestoentertheWorldCupfinals.
Thereare32placesintheWorldCupfinals.Thehostcountryinthefinalscandirectlygettheplacesinthefinals.Exceptforthehostcountry,otherplacesareallocatedbyFIFA.Accordingtothefootballlevelofeachqualifier,differentqualifierswillhavedifferentnumbersoffinals.Startingfromthe3rdWorldCupin1938,itisstipulatedthatthedefendingchampionandthehostcandirectlyadvance,butin2002becauseofthedefendingchampionFranceTheperformanceintheWorldCupinKoreaandJapanistoopoor,soFIFAstipulatesthatfromthe2006WorldCupqualifiers,thedefendingchampionneedstoparticipateinit.IntheWorldCupqualifiersintheregion,onlythehostcanqualifyforthefinals.TheSouthAfricanWorldCuphostfailedtoqualifyfromthegroup,butFIFAdidnotdisqualifythehostfromdirectlyadvancing.

世界杯带给主办国的直接经济效应更是立竿见影,早于1982年,西班牙因为主办世界杯就获得高达63亿美元的旅游收入,2006年德国世界杯更是为德国带来110亿美元至120亿美元的直接经济收入。
在一些国家,例如中国,虽然国家队屡次无法进入世界杯,但世界杯仍旧带来客观的经济影响。2010年南非世界杯开始前,如往常一样,中国国家广电总局规定只有中央电视台有独家的转播购买权利,有传媒报道CCTV仅在广告费方面的收入就超过20亿元人民币可谓赚的盆满钵满,而中国的一些啤酒企业,甚至股票市场都会因为世界杯的举行产生波动。
政治效应
世界杯赛影响力亦体现于多国的政治领域,通常夺冠球队与表现出色的球员都会被各国视为民族英雄。甚至在德国世界杯,东道主德国队即使没能夺取最后的冠军,但德国总统科勒尔仍旧在总统府接见了季军球队。
球队英雄世界杯金靴奖得主克洛泽被总统亲自受勋。
世界杯的比赛,包括德国总理默克尔,英国首相卡梅伦,意大利总统纳波利塔诺,法国总统奥朗德,联合国秘书长潘基文等多名政要以及英国女皇伊莉莎白二世,西班牙国王胡安·卡洛斯等各国皇室成员都会亲临赛场观看比赛。

世界杯与中国
中华人民共和国国家主席习近平将世界杯称为“中国梦”的重要组成部分,上升到国家高度。
他对中国足球有三个愿望:“一是中国足球队进世界杯,二是中国能举办世界杯,三是中国有朝一日能获得世界冠军。
”表明了国家领导人对中国足球事业的高度重视。
“足球梦”也是“中国梦”。当我国各项事业都在蓬勃发展时,国人渴望着中国足球能够“冲出亚洲、走向世界”,在世界最大舞台上展示出中国的强盛国力。
