Naming rules
Let’s talk about the naming rules of intel chipsets: 1. 915 series and later P is the mainstream version, without integrated graphics, supporting the mainstream FSB and memory at the time, and supporting the PCI-E X16 slot. Compared with P, PL is a simplified version, which has shrunk in the supported FSB and memory. There is no integrated graphics card, but it also supports PCI-E X16. G is the mainstream integrated graphics chipset, and supports PCI-E X16 slot, other parameters are similar to P. GV and GL are simplified chipsets of integrated graphics, and do not support PCI-E X16 slots. The remaining parameters of GV are the same as G, while GL has shrunk. Compared to P, X and XE are enhanced versions without integrated graphics and support PCI-E X16 slots. In general, there are no strict rules for the naming of Intel chipsets, but this is roughly the case.
Second, after the 965 series, starting with the 965 series chipset, Intel changed the naming method of the chipset, changed the letters representing the functions of the chipset from the suffix to the prefix, and carried out details for different user groups. Points, such as P965, G965, Q965 and Q963 and so on. P is the mainstream chipset version for individual users, without integrated graphics, supports the mainstream FSB and memory at the time, and supports PCI-E X16 slots. G is the mainstream integrated graphics chipset for individual users, and it supports PCI-E X16 slot, and the other parameters are similar to P. Q is an enterprise-level desktop chipset for business users. It has an integrated graphics card similar to G. In addition to all the functions of G, it also has special functions for business users, such as Active Management Technology. Wait. In addition, in the case of the same function prefix, the following numbers are used to distinguish performance, and the lower number means that the supported memory or FSB is simplified. For example, Q963 only supports DDR2 667 compared to Q965.
